Grace Sturdy-Lite Machine Quilting System Review

I have this frame.I bought one that came with a Juki machine.I was frustrated putting the machine base together.It did not come with all the correct bolts.I had to go to the hardware store to get the correct ones.I recommend making cloth leaders, getting bungee clamps and a stitch regulator up front to save your sanity and time in long run.The stitch regulator for this frame and my machine did not seem to work.The roller ball bearing wheels were not big enough to prevent the regulator roller from rubbing on the machine frame so I also had to go to the hardware store and replace all 4 wheels. After all that I was able to finally quilt.

I was so excited when my package arrived. I have had a lot of experience with sewing, and with sewing machines. I wounded a bobbin, and I threaded the machine, and started to sew. unfortunately the needle thread would not catch the bobbin thread. So, It wouldn't sew. I tried different settings, adjusted the tension. I changed the needle, but still the thread just would not catch. I was so disappointed. I returned the SewProZZ-401, I'm still waiting for my refund, which could take up to 4 weeks.

Singer 1507 8-Stitch Sewing Machine with 4-Step Buttonhole Review

I have been satisfied with singer sewing machines in the past so was happy when my daughter purchased this machine for me as a gift.
This is the third time I have used it. The first two times I had no problems sewing bathroom curtains and patching a couple pairs of pants. This time however, while doing a straight stitch for a hem the needle kept jamming in the bobbin area breaking three needles. I noticed that there was a clinking sound when the needle would go down below the machine surface. Upon further inspection I noticed the needle was hitting on the toothlike part in the bobbin area. I have changed needles, tried to readjust the foot and even tested various fabrics to see if there would be a difference, but to no avail. I spent a good two hours trying to trouble shoot this problem (spent more time troubleshooting then actual sewing). I have given up for now.
If anyone has a solution, I'd love to hear about it.

Brother PE-400D Combination Sewing and Embroidery Machine Review

I've had the Brother PE 400D for a bit over a year now.It is a great little machine.I have NEVER had any needle breaking issues. I'm not sure if the writer of the previos post with that issue was using the correct needle (you need to use an embroidery needle with the embroidery presser foot for embroidery,and you must usse a sewing needle, and coordinating presser foot for general sewing).
The embroidery comes out wonderful.The Winnie the Pooh embroidery patterns that are included are adorable, there are also plenty of pre-set stitches, different lettering fonts, etc.
You can also purchase additional Brother memory cards of numerous subjects: Holidays, Animals, Flowers, etc. Once you get more familiar with embroidery, you may want to purchase the Brother PED-Basic which allows you to download FREE embroidery patterns from the internet, copy them onto a memory card (included) and then place that memory card into your Brother PE-400D.There are MANY things you can do with this great little machine.
This machine is very easy to use.It is my first embroidery/sewing machine combo and I love the touch pad screen.This machine also comes with a DVD instructional video which is very helpful.

Brother LS-2220 22-Stitch Function Free-Arm Sewing Machine Review

I bought this machine to replace my 35-year old Singer Stylist and was surprised to learn that it was not as good! Of course being newer everything was a little smoother, but it has two problems that made it unacceptable to me. The first is that it requires constant - daily or weekly - oiling (my Singer only needed annual oiling) in 5 different places, some of which were not clearly indicated in the manual (brief and annoying to follow) and all of which were difficult to access. Also, pictures in the manual did not match the machine I received. The second big problem is that the it does not have a drop-in bobbin, something I thought surely would have become standard in the last 35 years! My old Singer had a drop-in bobbin and it is a feature I am not willing to give up.

I bought this for my daughter who wanted to learn how to sew. It's ok for this purpose, but don't count on it for great sewing. The speed is very slow, the pedal is cheap plastic and can break easily. The size is easy to handle for quick-fix sewing. The bobbin case is flimsy and comes dislodged easily.

Kenmore Mini Ultra 3/4 Size Sewing Machine with 6 Stitches Plus Buttonhole Review

I received this machine as a gift 7 years ago, and have since sewed everything from cardboard, denim, upholstery fabrics, quilts, paper, etc on it, and it is still chugging along! It's wonderful because it's fairly lightweight and medium sized, so it's easy to transport. It's also very easy to learn on, I taught myself how to use it and had sewed very little previous to using this machine. It has three straight stitches and seven variations of zig-zag stitches, as well as settings for making a buttonhole; new machines have way more settings for different stitches, but I've learned to do a lot of creative things just with this amount. If you are a really serious sewer you may be interested in a fancier machine with more options, but this one is wonderful if you are okay with limited stitch options. Replacements for needles and the light bulb have been easy and inexpensive. I've recently been learning about how to reset the tension, and this has been the first time it's given me any issues. Read the whole manual before you begin using it, it will make you a better sewer and teach you how to take care of your machine so it lasts longer. I would definitely recommend this machine.

Euro-Pro Stitch Art 18-Stitch Sewing Machine - 8260 Review

I am incredibly frustrated by this machine.It ran well at first - seems well-made, sturdy, and easy to use.An hour into my sewing machine explorations (I am a total novice), and I can't get the darn thing to sew.It's tricky pulling up the lower thread. When I do pull it up, the machine jams immediately with the first stitch, resulting in that dreaded "bird's nest."The bobbin case keeps popping out.I was initially able to resolve this by adjusting the bobbin tension.But after another 20 minutes of sewing, this has started all over again, and no amount of tension adjustment makes any improvement.30 minutes of Googling leads me to speculate that I've either damaged the needle or messed up the hook timing.Not sure how to adjust the hook timing, since it's not described in the manual.How about replacement needles?Can't figure out where to get those either.

This is an ongoing problem with Euro-pro products, and the reason that I will probably never buy another Euro-pro machine again.It's extremely difficult, if not impossible, to find replacement parts.And the manual is so simplistic that it's just a joke.Useless.I know that a lot of my problems are just because I've never used a sewing machine before, but the cryptic instruction manual and the absolute dearth of information available on the internet for this machine make it a total bust for me.One more try tonight before it gets sent back.

**Updated - ** I returned this and got a Singer that was cheaper, but with fewer functions.It works beautifully, and I love the reassurance that having a common brand brings.

If you are looking for a quick little machine for quick little jobs, this is for you.If you just need to crank out some straight stitches to hem or secure something simple, this will work perfectly.I sewed up a duvet cover; worked fine.

PROS:Cheap, small, lightweight, easy to set up.Heck, it even comes out of the box already threaded and ready to go with a spool of white thread!

CONS:It's small, and simple. Not much room for a lot of material to the right of the pressure foot of course, and you must take the sewing slow and steady, never pull.Not versatile, no zig zags or other stuff.Just straight, straight stitch.

Overall:Recommended for the most basic of sewing -- the straight stitch on broadcloth.Don't expect it to be more than it is; you get good value for your thirty bucks, but it ISN'T "as good as" a full sized sewing machine, of course!Go ahead and get this; it will do your small chores as you spend time figuring out which really cool sewing machine you'll spend serious money on...

Singer Tradition 2250 Portable Sewing Machine Review

My wife needed a simple basic sewing machine to repair and make adjustments to our clothes.We decided on this model based on the low price and the Singer name.As we understand there are more Singer machines in service than all other brands together.

We found the DVD that came with the machine very helpful and between that and the owner's manual the setup was easy.Since then she is using it from time to time and, as it fulfills all our needs at an affordable price, we must give it a high rating.

We would have hated to pay more for a sewing machine with more features that we were not going to use.This is a good reliable machine that fulfills our need for simplicity and ease of operation.

Brother ES2000 77 Stitch Function Computerized Free Arm Sewing Machine Review

This machine is very similar to the popular CS 6000 that's sold both here in Amazon and in Walmart. In fact they both use the same manual. The difference between the 2 are: CS6000 has an start/stop button so you can operate the machine w/o foot pedal, quilting accessories such as walking foot and larger table extension, needle up/down button, faster bobbin winding, 2 speeds, a hard cover and some extra fancy stitches. I don't care about these missing features. I sewed my own cloth cover using left over fabric. To me this little machine has all the functionality that I ever wanted from a sewing machine. All the utility stitches are there - sewing buttons and button holes (1-step), zippers, elastic, overlock, zig zag, satin, blah blah blah - everything you need to sew a dress or a pillow case, plus more. If you quilt a lot buy the CS6000 one. Threading is super easy because the direction is printed right on the machine. The automatic needle threader is very helpful. I use it every time. My only complaint is that the thread tends to slip out of the needle hole unless I leave a very long "tail". This happened w/ CS6000 too when I tried it at a friend's house. With both models you can specify if the needle is left up or down when sewing stops. Both needs no oiling (probably mostly plastic parts?) I haven't sewed very heavy fabric yet. The LED light is very dim but cool. You definitely need a real lamp nearby. You can leave the machine on for a long time because the light uses very little energy. If you do turn it off, all the custom stitch settings will be lost (no memory). So far I am very happy with this machine.

Brother XL2600I 25-Stitch Free-Arm Sewing Machine with Multiple Stitch Functions Review

This is a great machine for the price.I am teaching my teenage daughter to sew and she is turned off by my clunky old Singer.So I keep that around for the tough jobs and use this new Brother for the light weight stuff.

The only major limitation of this machine is that it can't really handle heavy weight fabrics or multiple layers very well.There is no presser foot adjustment, so the foot can only be raised so much, and can't be adjusted for variable feed, depending on fabric thickness.There is only one setting.That means you need to use plenty of pins, and keep the old Singer around for the heavy duty stuff.Otherwise, a fun little machine.
