So sorry that this is a very bad product.Singer went out of business many years ago and only sold the right to use the name.This machine sewed 2 quilt tops before freezing up and had to be thrown away totally useless and not fixable.It is a nice size for taking to quilt class but needs to keep working more than 2 months.

Singer Inspiration w/ No Error ThreadingTM 4228 Review

I bought this machine yesterday.It was so easy to use that within minutes we had threaded it and started sewing.Indeed, I was quite happy until today (a day later) when the bobbin thread started bunching. Within minutes the machine stopped stitching completely!!(The needle thread just won't pick up the bobbin thread at all!!) I telephoned the store and they think it may need timing adjustments!!!Will be returning it in the morning for a complete refund.Am thinking of getting a Brother instead.I had paid more for the Singer brand but am thoroughly disappointed!

Singer 57817 17 Stitch Function and Electronic Speed Control Sewing Machine Review

I have had this machine for years! I paid a lot more for it than Amazon is offering. So the price is just not an issue here. The main advantage of this machine is 1) It is Singer (the name says it all); 2) It has an automatic thread tension control (an invaluable feature for novices!); 3) It has 17 stitches (even the one for sewing on buttons, embroidery, and monogram); 4) It is very easy to operate, as a very detailed and easy to comprehend user manual is included; and 5) It is light-weight, compared to those bulky Kenmore and Bernina machines, it is is just a baby!
I would definitely recommend this machine to novices (especially for such a price) it is easy and cute, too.

Singer 1507 8-Stitch Sewing Machine with 4-Step Buttonhole Review

I have been satisfied with singer sewing machines in the past so was happy when my daughter purchased this machine for me as a gift.
This is the third time I have used it. The first two times I had no problems sewing bathroom curtains and patching a couple pairs of pants. This time however, while doing a straight stitch for a hem the needle kept jamming in the bobbin area breaking three needles. I noticed that there was a clinking sound when the needle would go down below the machine surface. Upon further inspection I noticed the needle was hitting on the toothlike part in the bobbin area. I have changed needles, tried to readjust the foot and even tested various fabrics to see if there would be a difference, but to no avail. I spent a good two hours trying to trouble shoot this problem (spent more time troubleshooting then actual sewing). I have given up for now.
If anyone has a solution, I'd love to hear about it.

Reliable 2000U-33 Barracuda Portable Zig-Zag Walking-Foot Sewing Machine Review

I'm no an expert at sewing but have had some good experiences with an older rock-solid Singer zigzag.This machine is the basic do-it-yourself entry-level zig-zag walking foot capable of handling heavier fabrics and sails.It is nearly identical to those sold under many different names.God luck deciphering which ones are made in China or Taiwan, the latter supposedly a bit better made.A fine-tuned version (at a significantly higher price) is available from Sailrite (beware some of the sleight-of-hand discounters selling that brand though Sailrite themselves are highly reputable).

I received mine a week ago and have just done a couple of practice projects with 1" webbing and 6-8 oz. duck.I'm finding that the machine gets hung up often.I initially thought it was from using the wrong sized needle or simply too much fabric.Through experimentation culminating with turning by hand with no fabric or thread, I've found that the clutch mechanism in this thing can barely overcome the mechanical resistance of the spring-loaded walking presser foot, even when not actually sewing.I followed the manual instructions and rotated the clutch washer 180º and I guess it's another one of those help suggestions designed simply to waste your time.

I've ordered the Sailrite Monster II balance wheel and, based on my initial experiences, think a modification like that is an absolute necessity.It's not a refinement or luxury but a requirement for this machine to be functional as the factory clutch is pure rubbish.Right now, I have it cranked down so tight I can't unscrew it, but it still slips constantly.

My only other complaint is minor.The foot controller is pretty flimsy but that's not a surprise.It's asinine though that the cord from the machine to the foot controller is so short it barely reaches the floor from a kindergarten-sized table.The A/C plug end is plenty long.That's just very sloppy quality control and I'm going to have to splice a longer wire, simple really, but not something most people would want to deal with.

Bottom line, if you plan to add an enhanced balance wheel with positive mechanical engagement, everything else seems reasonably functional and solid.If you think you can use this as shipped, in my opinion, not a good choice.

I have tried using this machine about 4 times and have had issues each time. The bobbin gets tangled very easily and my bobbin holder actually cracked so I need to replace it.The machine is not user friendly.It's very cheaply made.I'd recommend spending more money on a higher quality machine.So far, it has been nothing but pure frustration!

Singer(R) Inspiration 4210 Review

This is an update to my previous review (see below the **** for the original review).

The replacement 4210 sent to me directly from Singer is a VAST improvement over the 4210 I bought in Spring 2007. It's very obvious that the model has had improvements over the past two years of continued manufacture. I've put the new 4210 through its paces and am well pleased with it! What a relief!

****Original review:
I've been sewing for 30 years on an old model Singer, and am an experienced seamstress. I bought this for the features my vintage Singer doesn't have, such as zig-zag stitches, stitching for stretch knits, and buttonhole stitching.

I've had problems from the start with the 4210. The "birdnesting" problem with the bobbin if the machine is not threaded under tension is ridiculous, and documented on Singer's support site. Having to purchase specific bobbins is just wrong. Making buttonholes is not the piece-of-cake that is claimed. It's not intuitive how to change presser feet. The bobbin case jams repeatedly. When using four layers of lightweight cotton and stitching them, birdnesting occurs; you can pretty much ruling out sewing any heavy or thick fabrics with this machine. Birdnesting also occurs when stitching stretch knits. The tension lever doesn't seem to have any effect on tension at all. I could go on and on.

I've called Singer support and they've offered to give me a new 4210 and send this problem one back. I'll take them up on that, and hope that in the two years since I bought my 4210 some of these problems may have been worked out in manufacturing. We'll see.

Singer CE-100 Futura Sewing and Embroidery Machine Review

What makes this product so attractive is that by connecting it to a computer you can get an endless amount of embroidery designs. It is also a full feature sewing machine.
I bought this item for my wife's birthday. It does everything that is advertised. The sewing functions are straight forward, and everything worked as it should.
The embroidery isn't as staight forward. The instructions are very poor, and limited. Although I have to admit, that I figured most of it out fairly quickly. The embroidery is slow, and of course you have to change thread for every color change in your pattern. The designs came out looking good. I also downloaded some free designs from other sites, and they worked just as well.
My problem with this machine is two fold. The one we bought broke after only a few hours of use. It was a minor problem. The bobbin holder had a crack where the tension screw goes in. At first everything was fine, but within a few hours the thread started catching in the crack until it was unusable. I'm sure that this won't be a problem for most customers.
The second problem is much more severe in my opinion. No one has parts for the machine, and it's near impossible to even get a parts list. One item that doesn't come with the machine that my wife wanted was a zipper foot. The part number for that item was listed in the book, but when I went to find it, absolutely no one had it. I even wrote Singer's part's department, and they wrote back telling me to call.
It's a neat machine. As long as you get one that works, and aren't concerned about parts availability, I don't think you can find a better ebroidery machine for less money.

Singer 60 Function Sewing Machine Review

I purchased the 5160 5 years ago, and although I'm not a very frequent or expert sewer this machine has worked reliably well for me.I've made curtains, hemmed jeans and made lots of little baby gifts on this machine.Its instructions are pretty simple and easy to follow for anyone who's seen a sewing machine before.I haven't used any of the advanced features (buttonholes.) I like that it has a handle so that I can pull the machine out of the closet whenever I work on a project.
No complaints!And five years seems pretty good!
One drawback is that I've found it difficult to find extra bobbins for this machine.

Singer 7466 Electronic Sewing Machine Review

Love this!Sews beautifully, lots of great stitches, very easy to switch out the pressure foot.Only drawback I've found was the bobbin cover is easy to misplace.It pops off completely to put on a new bobbin.But I've just made of habit of putting it in the same spot when changing bobbins so I won't lose it.I really like the little cubby hole storage box on the front to store the extra feet.Very nice machine, and I'm very happy with it.

Singer 34-Stitch Esteem Sewing Machine - White (1732) Review

I would say this is an okay machine for beginners. I say this because some seem to have the impression that the machine is supposed to do everything for you. First read the manual thoroughly so you can understand how the machine works. Second, in the beginning, my stitches kept getting tangled, and I realized all I needed to do was fix the tension. You just have to play around with the machine to understand how it works. Second, the "S" button is not in the stitch selector dial but stitch length. I've made 4 different projects with this machine so far and I love it. Works well and I'm sure I'll have this one for a while.

Carry and Cover Sewing Case - Blue/ Brown Review

I bought this case at a Target store. It was marked down because it was very dirty, but it wiped clean with water andwith no difficulty. The only thing I would suggest is to measure your machine before buying. It said "Singer" on the cardboard wrapping. I have a Singer, but it wouldn't fit until I removed my upper thread holders. I love it because it is easy to pick up and it holds my presser foot and accessories.

Singer 611 Universal Carrying Case Review

I got this carry case per Amazon's recommendation to go with the Singer 6038 machine.While it's functional, it's very basic and doesn't allow the machine to be integrated into it like the case I have for my old White - you have to remove the machine from this case to use it.Also, the pedal for the machine I bought has to be shoved between the arm and the needle in order to get the case closed, which worries me.The fit is poor - it's a slightly protective dust cover and carrying case and not much else.
Now that I think about it, it's not even that comfortable to carry (and down it goes from 3 to 2 stars) - it was a poor engineer who decided to make the underside of the handle (you know, where all the weight presses on your fingers) a bunch of thin ribs of plastic.So instead of hanging on to a nice solid surface, you're gripping this things that's trying to bluntly slice your fingers into 1/8 inch strips.Sure, it's strong, but it's exceedingly uncomfortable to carry any distance.I'll have to wrap mine with some padded vinyl or somesuch.
In short, it does the job, but not especially well.

Singer 2932 Sewing Machine Review

I haven't been overly impressed with this machine.Unless you have a death grip on the starting threads, they will be pulled into the machine and lock it up.I found the foot patel very difficult to get use to.When I press down and it either sounds like the machine is having trouble starting up or goes 90mph and is hard to control.I've given it almost a month and just can't take it anymore.I'm taking this machine back tonight.

Singer Model 7467 Sewing Machine Review

I just got this machine a week ago as an early Christmas gift from my hubby.I didn't purchase it from Amazon, because we found a Thanksgiving-week deal at Jo-Ann fabrics, so I picked it up there for about $200.

I am very happy with this machine.It has 66 stitch functions (search google for an image "list" of these, like I did), 3 buttonhole options, and a twin-needle option.I have used about 10 of the decorative stitches already, and I'm incredibly impressed with how well the machine handles them.

This machine is quiet enough that I can have a conversation with my husband while he's 15 feet away, all without either of us raising our voices.It has a smooth feed and doesn't shake (like my last machine did, even in tip-top shape!).It is sleek-looking and it doesn't weigh much, so I can carry it without feeling as though my arm is going to break off.

The reverse stitch is easy to use (the button is right by the needle, so you can hold it as you are feeding the fabric).Bobbins are simple to wind on this machine, and it even has a self-threading needle, but I prefer to thread by hand.I've had no problems here, it works beautifully, but I kind of think it's over-kill as I have no problems with threading my needle.However, I can see how this option may be very helpful to people with unsteady hands.

It's computerized, so it adjusts the thread tension automatically, which is one of the big reasons I was interested in a newer Singer model.With past sewing machines, I've had trouble with thread tension despite constant fidgeting and following the manual's explicit instructions.

Oh, and the bobbin!It's got a drop-in system, which makes it so much easier to thread.No more taking pieces out of my machine to put the bobbin back in!I LOVE THIS MACHINE!

But seriously, I love this machine.I have only had it for a week or so, but I have done a LOT of sewing (Christmas gifts!) and I am in looooooove with this machine.I am absolutely 100% satisfied, and you probably will be too.

My wife needed a simple basic sewing machine to repair and make adjustments to our clothes.We decided on this model based on the low price and the Singer name.As we understand there are more Singer machines in service than all other brands together.

We found the DVD that came with the machine very helpful and between that and the owner's manual the setup was easy.Since then she is using it from time to time and, as it fulfills all our needs at an affordable price, we must give it a high rating.

We would have hated to pay more for a sewing machine with more features that we were not going to use.This is a good reliable machine that fulfills our need for simplicity and ease of operation.
