I purchased this machine 6 weeks ago.I researched for months, read loads of info about so many machines, of all types and prices.I learned of the brand Janome through a friend who uses a Bernina.She had sewed on one and really liked it.After reading more info on the Janome website, it seemed that for a very reasonable price this machine might be just fine. For a basic model it is loaded with featutes.I have a lot of experience sewing, and know that most of the time I just need a good solid machine, not full of bells and whistles that will rarely be used. Most other sources have this machine priced much higher.Out of the box the start up is quick and simple, manual very easy, very clear.I was sewing in about 20 minutes after getting it out of the box.It is quiet and powerful. Very beautiful stitches.Easy operation.I am impressed.My main reason for this purchase was to get my daughter a good machine.After buying this one I really like this Janome, and would buy again.Maybe Amazon will start to carry more models of Janome. I will check back in after I have done more projects on this, and let people know how it goes. I definately am content thus far. The only reason for four stars is that I have not used the buttonholer yet, or put in a zipper.

Reliable 2000U-33 Barracuda Portable Zig-Zag Walking-Foot Sewing Machine Review

I'm no an expert at sewing but have had some good experiences with an older rock-solid Singer zigzag.This machine is the basic do-it-yourself entry-level zig-zag walking foot capable of handling heavier fabrics and sails.It is nearly identical to those sold under many different names.God luck deciphering which ones are made in China or Taiwan, the latter supposedly a bit better made.A fine-tuned version (at a significantly higher price) is available from Sailrite (beware some of the sleight-of-hand discounters selling that brand though Sailrite themselves are highly reputable).

I received mine a week ago and have just done a couple of practice projects with 1" webbing and 6-8 oz. duck.I'm finding that the machine gets hung up often.I initially thought it was from using the wrong sized needle or simply too much fabric.Through experimentation culminating with turning by hand with no fabric or thread, I've found that the clutch mechanism in this thing can barely overcome the mechanical resistance of the spring-loaded walking presser foot, even when not actually sewing.I followed the manual instructions and rotated the clutch washer 180º and I guess it's another one of those help suggestions designed simply to waste your time.

I've ordered the Sailrite Monster II balance wheel and, based on my initial experiences, think a modification like that is an absolute necessity.It's not a refinement or luxury but a requirement for this machine to be functional as the factory clutch is pure rubbish.Right now, I have it cranked down so tight I can't unscrew it, but it still slips constantly.

My only other complaint is minor.The foot controller is pretty flimsy but that's not a surprise.It's asinine though that the cord from the machine to the foot controller is so short it barely reaches the floor from a kindergarten-sized table.The A/C plug end is plenty long.That's just very sloppy quality control and I'm going to have to splice a longer wire, simple really, but not something most people would want to deal with.

Bottom line, if you plan to add an enhanced balance wheel with positive mechanical engagement, everything else seems reasonably functional and solid.If you think you can use this as shipped, in my opinion, not a good choice.

Janome Heart Truth 2008 50-Stitch Sewing Machine Review

I've had this machine for a couple of months now, and it's great.I've always enjoyed sewing, but whenever my cheap machines would jam. the bobbin thread would run out, or one of any number of other bothersome things happened, I would quit.The HT2008 automatically takes care of a lot of those things and makes the others simple and quick to take care of.The feet are easy to change, the bobbin is easy to fill from a separate spool, it feeds evenly, the tension takes care of itself...It's also sturdy and attractive.I'm very glad I spent the extra money to get this machine instead of a cheaper one.It does just what I need.

The Little Gracie II Machine Quilting Frame is a marvelous, sturdy, easy to construct frame for home machine quilting.It takes time and patience but all parts are clearly labeled and it comes with both a guidebook and a DVD.Watch the DVD first to get a great overview.Now, The Janome part is another story:It is advertised in this package as the machine to use for quilting on this frame, which needs major clarification.It does not have a feed dog lowering feature so extra parts are needed which should come with the machine in order to make it work.There was only a straight foot and a hemmer in the Janome package (figure those for free form machine quilting??).The Janome siteis not clear in reference to support; in fact when contacting them they told me to go to a local dealer.There are no other guidelines for use other than the basic plug it in, thread it booklet, no accessories information, etc.I would buy the Little Gracie II by itself and find myself another long-arm quilting machine if I had it to do over for purchase. However, the support from Amazon has been great in helping me obtain the foot needed to make this system work as it should have as advertised.

This is a crafting tool, not a sewing machine, but if you like to needle felt, rug hook, crochet, etc. or other things that give you a lot of "fiber" materials in your crafting closet, this thing is marvy! You can take a piece of felt, burlap, muslin, and make tapestries and wall hangings with yarn, roving, bits and pieces of ribbon, etc. in half the time it would take to do it by hand. Although it will "join" materials together, it is not like an applique process where the pieces could potentillialy withstand a machine washing, so for garments you will probably need additional hand-sewing on elaborate creations. But -- it's fun and has "no rules" for use.

Janome 8077 Computerized Sewing Machine Review

I purchased this sewing machine as a gift for my grand-children.When it arrived, I checked it out to make sure it worked well and was a good machine for them.I read the manual to learn about its' features and made all the stitches on a scrap of material.The machine is quiet, runs smoothly and makes beautiful stitches, plus it is lightweight and easy to transport.

Janome Sewing Embroidery Machine Bobbins 10ct Pack New Review

I am a novice sewer and just bought a new Janome Magnolia sewing machine from amazon.com. A couple of weeks into my sewing projects, I realized that the four bobbins that came with the machine just weren't going to cut it. I couldn't find Janome bobbins on any of the typical sewing websites so I bit the bullet and bought a couple of sets of these knowing that I probably could have found them cheaper at a bricks 'n mortar store if I had spent time trying to find them. Janome Decor Computer DC2010 Sewing Machine Review

I am an intermediate sewer and bought this machine on the advice of my aunt, who is a professional seamstress who uses the same machine.

The machine is easy to thread. The bobbin, also easy to load, is in a clear encasing so you know when you're running low on bobbin thread.The special stitches look great, are easy to use, and provide excellent support to my crafting projects. (They do use a lot of thread, though.)The feed system is so smooth, much better than my old Singer.Feels like I've upgraded my ride from an old beater truck to a luxury sedan!

The manual is a little tough to use if you don't have much sewing knowledge, but that's my only complaint.Wish I'd bought this machine years ago!

This is my first machine, I learned to sew on my Mom's Singer and still consider myself a beginner.Easy to understand instructions, quite - which is a big plus.Have sewed several pillows and curtains and am very pleased with the machine so far.Plan to use some of the fancier stitches on a small quilt after some more practice.All in all I recommend this machine for someone who wants simple and quick.

I am a first time sewer and I wanted a solid machine below $400.I wanted something I could grow into, but something that wouldn't overwhelm me.I had gone online to research machines.I was actually considering the Brother CS6000I before I had even heard of the Janome 7330.At the time there were 97 reviews on Amazon for the Brother CS6000I and I read every one.I was concerned b/c the low rated Brother reviews and even many of the 4 and 5 star reviews complained about the machine's tension and a finicky bobbin.The last thing I wanted to deal with was a touchy machine.If you read the reviews, without looking at the stars, most of them talk about the machine's quirks.I started to wonder if the Brother was trying to be too far reaching for it's price point.I was also wondering why so many were willing to overlook this touchiness that they all mentioned.

I went to SewVacDirect.com and did an online "ask a consultant" thing.I asked the person about the Brother CS6000I and the person directed me to the Janome.I had never heard of Janome before, but the consultant said that the Janome was far more sturdy than the Brother and that it was very easy to use.Still unsure, I decided to go to a store to see the machines in person.

After seeing the Janome and the Brother in action, I came home with the Janome 7330.After seeing the two machines work, I did feel that the Janome was better made and more sturdy.I felt more confident in the Janome's ability to grow with me through the years and felt it was more of the work horse that I was looking for.Twenty minutes after opening the box I was sewing.I'd never touched a machine before and I was sewing!It was as easy to use as they had told me.No weird finicky tricks to learn; just a solid machine.

The 7330 is computerized.It has a good number of stitches, including 5 different overcast stitches, three different one-step button holes, a darning stitch, and good number of decorative stitches.It has a free arm that has been great for doing the small arm and leg holes on the children's clothing I've been making.It has a foot pedal, although you can also use it sans the pedal.It has an up/down button that "remembers" if you last made the needle stay down when you stopped stitching.It also has a reverse button and an automatic needle threader.It's very easy to wind the bobbin and you just pop open the little lid and drop it in the hole.Super easy!

The instruction manual is very easy to follow and it comes with an all purpose presser foot, a satin foot (great for sewing on buttons!), a button foot, and a zipper foot.It also comes with a seam ripper, some bobbins, a brush for cleaning, a screw driver, and some plastic rings that hold the spool of thread in place.

When I told my friends that I had purchased a Janome, all of them said it was a very good brand.I found out that is a Japanese company and Janome means "eye of the snake" as it was one of the pioneers of using a round bobbin instead of a long shuttle back in the 1920's.Janome was the first to make a computerized sewing machine in the 1970's.I'm including this information b/c if you've never heard of this brand before, it's not a fly by night.It's been around for awhile and it has a very good reputation with those who know it.I also found that Janome sponsors a DIY website, threadbanger.com, which has some really neat ways to be green by reusing, recycling, and reconstructing things.

In conclusion, go to a retailer and see for yourself.It's a solid machine!!

Janome ThreadBanger TB12 Sewing Machine Review

This machine is a real workhorse. I worked in a tailor shop for years on a Bernina and fell in love with their machines, but could never afford one. This machine is as easy to use and works as well as a Bernina and I have since found out that Janome makes some of Bernina's machines for them, specifically the Bernette.

I just got this machine this week, but I absolutely LOVE it. I have gone through multiple layers of fleece without so much as a hiccup and have also done some finer work on thin cotton material, also without a hiccup.

It is a metal arm & base with some plastic parts. Has a storage box right on the front which is handy, and is very easy to change stitches, etc.

Definitely worth the money. You won't regret purchasing this machine.
