Singer Touch & Sew 7462 Electronic Sewing Machine Review

After reading a lot of on line reviews, I got this machine in September 2007.Funny that at the time I could hardly find many negative reviews and the ones I did find were people who had a beef with Singer or a weird fluke that made their machine break.So I took the plunge. I'd had another Singer that lasted a good 10 years with sporadic use.I'm certainly no seamstress.This was more or less for easy projects and simple sewing.It was easy to get started on the machine.The buttons for the various stitches are great. The horizontal placement of the thread seemed like a great idea. The instruction book was clear.It is easy to perform maintenance on the machine as the screws are easily accessible.That's about where my joy ends and my complaints begin.

First, the lighting stinks.Second, it's LOUD.If you get to pumping away at a long line of stitching, it's like a jackhammer.Then there's the godforsaken foot pedal.Irritating?You bet!It seems to either go slow or super fast and is clunky and unnatural.I have to use a bare foot to be able to grasp it with my toes to massage it to go a decent speed without jerking into super speed.Trying to get it to maintain a comfortable speed is hard work.If you step on the pedal and remove your foot, and then try to step on it again again right away, the pedal fails to work at all if you haven't allowed the needle unit to stop.It can be super annoying.

The last complaint I will voice is the fact that I am having one heck of a time getting thread that agrees with the machine.Yes, I've cleaned the machine.Yes, I've oiled the machine.Yes, I've adjusted the tension up or down. Yes, I've changed needles...bought good thread...am using "Singer" products...sacrificed a goat and did a rain dance...but the thread is forever clumping around the top of the needle and snapping off.No matter what I do thus far, I can't seem to solve that problem.

All in all, I am frustrated with this machine.I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.You know that saying "you get what you pay for"?Well, if only that were true in this case!I haven't even gotten what I paid for!

I have used all these attachments for several weeks now; since I am new to sewing I took my time in learning how to use them.First of all they are metal, and sturdy and very well made. I have a Brother LS2521i and they fit perfectly. The rolled hem attachments are awesome, a must have.Your hems come out perfect.The Binder foot was a little tricky to use, but that was my lack of experience since I tried to use a jersey fabric that was too thick and the width of the strip of fabric I was using for bias tape was too wide. After measuring correctly and watching some videos I found in YouTube on using that same attachment it finally worked (after quite a few tries).

The EdgeSticher foot was also a little tricky to use, but again reading the directions several times and finally finding a YouTube video did the trick.Also a very useful foot to have!

I have a book called The Sewing Machine Attachment Handbook by Charlene Phillips that helped me immensely to choose the sewing foot atachments I needed.

Bottom line, they are very nice and do their job.As far as the Binder foot, I might just buy or make bias tape and use the other Distinctive Tape-Sticher presser foot to attach it.

The only thing I wish it had was a nice case like the other Distinctive foot sets.

Brother HS2000 Computerized Sewing Machine Review

I have been sewing since 1969 or so. I have done a lot of sewing, had a number of different machines. My last purchase was a Euro pro. It sews pretty well, but very hard to get parts. I wanted another machine so my daughters and I can sew together. Price was a factor, and I did a lot of investigating different machines and decided on this one. So far, I am well pleased. I have played around with the different feet and designs. I am very pleased with the button holes and how easy they are. (I can remember my first buttonholes many years ago)
I am a bit disappointed in how much plastic parts there are now. But I am seeing that on most the machines.
I am enjoying the feature to use the buttons on the machine for start/stop and speed control. I love the needle threader as well as the feature for the quick start bobbin. One thing I haven't tried yet is heavier fabric such as denim.
I would highly recommend this machine for beginners or intermediate users. A lot of machine for the price.

Next day--I cut off some jeans and hemmed them,and even with a 16 needle this machine wouldn't go through the doubled side seams of the jeans.A lot of machines I have used over the years had this problem as well.This is the only thing I have had trouble with so far. But it sewed the regular denim just fine.

Side Cutter II Sewing Machine Foot Attachment Review

This is a wonderful product for LIGHTWEIGHT sewing! I happen to use it on very sheer nylon for grooming smocks, so it converts my straight shanked Brother and Singer machines into sergers very easily. I know Singer has a heavier duty side cutter and plan to purchase it for future heavy weight sewing, but for now, this is the product that I will be using. You will need to read the instructions in order to get it to work the first time as I just expected it to go to work automatically. NOT! It's wonderful for the price for lightweight materials and I would recommend it for the hobby to advanced sewer who does not want to purchase a serger right away.

Brother LS590 25 Stitch 59 Function Sewing Machine Review

Bought this machine for my 6 year old daughter who is learning to sew.Great little machine with all the features of a full size sewing machine from the needle threader to the buttonholes.I use it more than she does.Much better value than the Janome 3128.We are very pleased.

Janome 8077 Computerized Sewing Machine Review

I purchased this sewing machine as a gift for my grand-children.When it arrived, I checked it out to make sure it worked well and was a good machine for them.I read the manual to learn about its' features and made all the stitches on a scrap of material.The machine is quiet, runs smoothly and makes beautiful stitches, plus it is lightweight and easy to transport.

I was so thrilled that I kept raving, to my husband, about what a great little machine it is.In fact, I liked it so much, I decided to keep it for myself and I had to order another one for my grandchildren.

This machine is way better than many machines that cost much more.I already have a Bernina (expensive) and a Singer Featherweight but I fell in love with this sewing machine. I would recommend it to anyone and, in fact, I did. I told two my friends about it and they each bought one.

Euro-Pro Stitch Art 18-Stitch Sewing Machine - 8260 Review

I am incredibly frustrated by this machine.It ran well at first - seems well-made, sturdy, and easy to use.An hour into my sewing machine explorations (I am a total novice), and I can't get the darn thing to sew.It's tricky pulling up the lower thread. When I do pull it up, the machine jams immediately with the first stitch, resulting in that dreaded "bird's nest."The bobbin case keeps popping out.I was initially able to resolve this by adjusting the bobbin tension.But after another 20 minutes of sewing, this has started all over again, and no amount of tension adjustment makes any improvement.30 minutes of Googling leads me to speculate that I've either damaged the needle or messed up the hook timing.Not sure how to adjust the hook timing, since it's not described in the manual.How about replacement needles?Can't figure out where to get those either.

This is an ongoing problem with Euro-pro products, and the reason that I will probably never buy another Euro-pro machine again.It's extremely difficult, if not impossible, to find replacement parts.And the manual is so simplistic that it's just a joke.Useless.I know that a lot of my problems are just because I've never used a sewing machine before, but the cryptic instruction manual and the absolute dearth of information available on the internet for this machine make it a total bust for me.One more try tonight before it gets sent back.

**Updated - ** I returned this and got a Singer that was cheaper, but with fewer functions.It works beautifully, and I love the reassurance that having a common brand brings.
