I had never sewn anything before in my life, but I wanted to learn.This sewing machine came with a DVD to explain how to thread it.It was very easy to thread, wind the bobbin, and put the bobbin in.I do wish they had given me a bit more info on what each foot is for and what each one looks like.I guess they assumed that I'm less clueless than I actually am about sewing.
I've got absolutely no complaints about the quality of the machine.When I first brought it home, I was playing with it, and got a huge rat's nest of thread stuck behind the dog feeder.The machine came with a small flat piece of metal, that (with absolutely no instruction from anyone) I was able to figure out was to be used to unscrew the face plate, and get everything cleaned out.I was able to fix it and get back to sewing within about 10 minutes.
It comes with two trays (sorry, I don't know what they're called).One is a larger tray that's good for holding large projects like a quilt.The other tray is small and compact, but it's my favorite as it has a small compartment that is perfect for holding the extra feet, needles, etc.
Complaints:The "automatic threader" is a joke.I have tried to use it to thread the machine about 50 times, and can not figure it out, despite watching the DVD instructions on how to do it.The light is not very bright, so expect to have a lamp over your sewing area.The bobbin window pops out completely, and is very easy to misplace (which I do every time I have to change the bobbin.)I wish there was better instructions on how to use the feet, and how to sew a button on.I was able to make the button hole with no problem, but ended up sewing the buttons on by hand.
Also, not really a complaint, but a side note... I don't use the larger tray much, so it takes up a lot of storage space in my limited sewing area, which is something you might want to think about if you have a very small work area too.
Compliments:This machine is so super easy to thread, and sew.It has all the feet you need to do all your projects (if you know how to use them).I love the compartment in the smaller tray, to hold all the small stuff.It has 4 or 5 very pretty stitch patterns that look really nice on a quilt.The machine and light never get hot to the touch, no matter how long I use it.And if you do manage to screw it up (luckily this doesn't happen often) it's super easy to fix.Its default setting has the needle always stop in the up position, so you don't have to manually lift the needle every time you switch squares on a quilt.
All-in-all, a wonderful machine, but perhaps better for someone who knows what they're doing, or is able to take a sewing class or two.Even if (like me) you've never sewn anything at all, if you just want to use the default settings, it's delightfully easy.4.5 stars.=)

This is the best attachment I've ever bought.Don't know how I got along without it all these years.What a difference!!
If you don't sew too much it's a good little machine, but oh so frustrating to change the bobbin and every time you use the thread cutter the presser foot falls off. If I looked closer on this machine I would never have bought it, I would have made sure the bobbin loads from the top. If you want to put this machine in a sewing table, you have to crawl under the table to change bobbin. To thread a new bobbin you have to rethread...........summary. good for once in a while sewing and mending,priced good,but not user friendly.
I had never done free-motion quilting before I bought this. It was super easy to attach to my Brother sewing machine. It took me a little bit of practice to get the hang of it (I did stipple quilting on a baby quilt) but it wasn't that hard. It did make a squeaking noise while I sewed. I'm not sure if it was my machine or the foot. I recommend getting some quilting gloves that help you grip the fabric as you move it. My hands and wrists got sore from gripping the fabric for so long.
I have never used a sewing machine before, but i liked the idea that I can do alterations on my jeans and pants, do some patchwork on my old clothes, and do various jobs here and there.
Cheaply made. Extremely small overall size. Has 24 pegs for spools of thread, but since they are way too close together, they won't hold regular sizes of spools. Came with 24 TINY spools of thread that won't last very long. Came with quite a few notions, but the straight pins weren't in a box. I could hear them rattling when I got the package. When I opened the box, pins were everywhere, and fell out all over the floor. The only really useful notion is a needle threader that comes with a magnifying glass. Came with bobbins for some reason, already loaded with thread. Of course the bobbins don't work with my machine and since you need to fill a bobbin with the thread you're using, these bobbins are useless. If this kit had cost $5.95, it would have been too expensive, but a little more reasonable for the quality of the product.
This is my first machine, I learned to sew on my Mom's Singer and still consider myself a beginner.Easy to understand instructions, quite - which is a big plus.Have sewed several pillows and curtains and am very pleased with the machine so far.Plan to use some of the fancier stitches on a small quilt after some more practice.All in all I recommend this machine for someone who wants simple and quick.
