Singer Stitch Sew Handheld Portable Sewing Machine Review

Singer Stitch Sew Handheld Portable Sewing MachineThis product doesn't even deserve one star! I bought this for something simple and easy...what a BIG MISTAKE!! It's more trouble than it is worth! The hems don't hold up, it's a pain to finish a hem so it doesn't unthread on me, it's hard to control any real direction AND did I mention that it just plain SUCKS? I feel like I am all thumbs while trying to use it. It's now in the dumpster because I wouldn't even GIVE it away!!! Coming from the name Singer, I was a bit surprised of the bad quality :((

Singer(R) CurvyTM 8763 Sewing Machine Review

Singer(R) CurvyTM 8763 Sewing MachineI purchased my Singer Curvy Sewing Machine in August 2008 after taking sewing lessons learning on a Pfaff machine. After getting accustomed to some of the convenient and easy to use features on the Pfaff machines, I set out to find an equally convenient, easy to use AND affordable sewing machine. My research led me to the Curvy, and I have no regrets. I have completed many projects with this machine, all of which came out beautiful. Best of all, the machine is easy to use and has many convenient features. All in all, the Curvy has proven to be a great value to me and I will be enjoying it for a very long time!

Michley LSS-505 Lil' Sew & Sew Multi-Purpose Sewing Machine with Built-In Stitches Review

Michley LSS-505 Lil' Sew & Sew Multi-Purpose Sewing Machine with Built-In StitchesI didn't want an expensive sewing machine. I just wanted to hem my boy's pants which are always too long, and it works for that. The instructions are pretty bad but with a little help from Youtube I figured it out. I was able to rethread the bobbins and use the thread I had without any problem. I think if I, who has never used a sewing machine in his life can figure it out, just about anybody can.

Singer 1507 8-Stitch Sewing Machine Review

Singer 1507 8-Stitch Sewing MachineI've worked with those really old, big, and clunky sewing machines when I was about 8-13 years old under my mom's and grandmother's supervision. Now I'm 25, and recently decided I needed a sewing machine of my own. I don't have room for any big machine similar to what I was used to, so I thought a small portable one should do the job for me.

I got a really cheap $30 set from Walgreens, and that stopped working 5 minutes out of the box. Figured I ought to be a little more serious, so I opted to spend more than I really wanted to get this. I am very glad that I did.

I just got it today. The manual is super easy to understand. I'd never threaded a machine on my own before, but there is even a numbered guide right on the machine to tell you where the top thread goes. The guide on the machine plus the very simple instructions in the manual made threading the thing a breeze.

With the foot pedal, it's fairly easy to control the speed. I've read some reviews on similar machines (a Brother one, in particular, that I was also looking at) with complaints of it going from 0 to 100 with nothing in between. Not so with this one.

It's really quiet. It's a little awkward having the top spool horizontal, but it works. It's a little heavier than I expected, but that makes it more sturdy. It has a little storage compartment that's really convenient and a nice way to keep everything in one place. It has a little lever for reverse sewing, which I really like. Comes with a neat little cover that has a slot at the top for the carrying handle.

Overall, it is a very straightforward machine that works great, is simple to use and easy to understand.

Singer CE-150 Futura Sewing-and-Embroidery Machine Review

Singer CE-150 Futura Sewing-and-Embroidery MachineBefore my Singer, I had only used a machine twice in my life, so when it arrived, I got a pleasant surprise - I was off sewing within minutes, getting great results and having loads of fun. I especially love that threading is so easy, and you learn quickly where to be careful to avoid thread breakage.

Changing to embroidery unit - no problem, though getting the right foot attached usually takes me a sec. I daringly started off with one of my own Embird designs... without a glitch, even without the use of stabilizer, just straight onto firm cotton.

I love that the machine is easy to use, especially the Futura software. Its 24 standard stitches are more than enough, its embroidery is great. And my absolute favorite is the hoop size! Other machines with a similar (still higher) price tag come with a 4"x4" hoop, this one has two hoops with a maximum of 5"x7". You might not think you will need this, but you will - either when doing multiple designs on one large hoop, or just embroidering longer names.

The manual could be improved at times, but I hardly ever needed it.

I hear people complaining about broken thread - honestly, just like with every machine, you just need to know the Singer's quirks.

During the first 3-5 stitches of every color, hold the upper thread in the back, and no false thread breakage will occur. If it still does, thread the whole thing again and you will be fine. Don't use pre-wound bobbins without stabilizer. It will give you trouble after only 1/3 of the bobbin is empty, and since the bobbin case is plastic, you really shouldn't use metal bobbins either. Just wind your own bobbins when needed, it is easy enough.

Make sure that you use good embroidery yarn; every machine has brands it doesn't like. I am currently extremely happy with the Madeira yarns.

The fact that it needs a computer next to it... You know that before buying, don't you? To me, that is not a disadvantage at all, since I appreciate the large screen, and that I can work in Embird while the machine embroiders, preparing the next project.

It really is an awesome machine for that price. In Europe, the only difference between the 150 and the 250/350 are the number of stitches and which software is included.

Since I am using Embird, I really needed nothing except the Futura software to send designs to the machine, and 24 stutches is more than enough for what I do.

I highly recommend the machine - I am utterly in love with it.

Brother LB6770PRW Project Runway Sewing-and-Embroidery Machine Review

Brother LB6770PRW Project Runway Sewing-and-Embroidery MachineAfter reviewing the instruction book, I found this machine very easy to use, quiet and really great in the way it performed. All sewing stitches are very easy to access at the touch of your finger and easy adjustments can be made during the sewing process. The embroidery part of this machine (the real reason I bought it) works very easily, also.I would recommend this machine for it's price, ease of use and compact design. The additional software was too expensive but contains some nice designs. I don't know if I would buy the software right away, maybe after I got to be more expert in the embroidery part of the machine.Still, all in all, a great buy.
